The exterior is a system, and treating its parts as separate jobs is how problems get missed. Siding installed well but flashed poorly at the roof line still lets water in. On siding, what matters is behind it: housewrap lapped correctly, flashing above every opening, and fasteners driven to the right depth. Storm damage brings judgment calls, since hail can bruise shingles without leaking and wind can break the seal without displacing anything. Knowing what actually needs addressing versus what's cosmetic is where a decade of restoration experience matters.
